We are conducting an open call for visual artists for consideration in our public art programming, residencies, and other commissioning opportunities in the coming years. Please provide your contact information, some samples of your best work, a short artist statement, and proposal if you have a specific project in mind (optional). Your information will be kept on file to be shared with our staff and guest curators for future rounds of visual art exhibitions.
All of our exhibition opportunities are paid (group shows $150-500 depending on the number of artists, $750-$1500 depending on the space for individual commissions/projects/solo exhibitions). Please review our Artist Agreement for details. We do not guarantee any notification of acceptance or rejection as we keep all artists on file. Selected artists for exhibition opportunities will be contacted directly during 2023 and beyond.
SPACE has a program that is local, national, and international, with a great appreciation for geographical dialogue between artists. We do make and prioritize certain opportunities for Maine and New England based artists. Artists from further afield are asked to think collaboratively with SPACE staff about opportunities for support for shipping, coming on site to make new work during residencies, and keeping the environmental and financial footprint of travel low in exhibitions.
