Photo Recap: Starlight Mints [8.11.09]

A couple weeks ago Norman, Oklahoma’s finest band, Starlight Mints, brought their tour to SPACE Gallery. We’d been expecting them to have their hometown’s second-best band (sorry, but the Mints gotta get the love in this case) Evangelicals in tow. Things don’t always work out the way you expect them to, so instead of Evangelicals’ spooky spych pop (which we would still very much like to see here in Portland – I got to catch them twice in one day back in March at SXSW and really enjoyed them) we were treated to an interesting set from Pleaseeasaur/JP Incorporated, performing theme songs to TV shows that don’t exist yet. An odd pairing with Starlight Mints and local Beatles-y openers Dominic And The Lucid (who looked rather dashing in their color-coordinated suits), but it definitely kept the crowd entertained. Read on for photos (by Bryan Bruchman).
