Swearin’ with High Spirits and S.S. Cretins
7:30PM
Swearin’ is a pop punk band quartet featuring members of Big Soda and PS Eliot. Their complimentary personalities, solid work-ethic, and similar backgrounds in DIY punk have helped them thrive. Formed in 2011 in Brooklyn, the band released their self-titled debut the following year which Pitchfork pegged as “the kind of record that reminds you of why you were drawn to indie rock in the first place”. Last year’s follow up, Surfing Strange is a moodier record than its predecessor but the indie-rock growl and energy that propelled their debut are never far away, packed with songs guaranteed to keep fans of that sound grinning from ear to ear.
High Spirits (not to be confused with their heavy metal namesakes from Chicago) is a space punk band that began last summer in a basement in Portland, Maine. High Spirits is a signal that began 13.8 billion years ago in the sudden expansion of a cosmic singularity.
The show will be opened with the psychedelic garage rock twang of S.S. Cretins who see themselves as “evil fuzz spirits summond from the resonophonic court”. Beat that!
